Dru Yoga Classes
“Dru comes from the Sanskrit word Dhruva which refers to the stillness that can be experienced in Dru Yoga and Meditation. In this stillness we are able to sit back from anything that may be happening around us and see and act from a point of clarity and calm.”
Dru Yoga brings the body mind and soul into unity, gently releasing stress to create harmony and balance. The profound and luminous teachings fill your body and heart with radiant health and glowing joy.
What is included in a Dru Yoga class?
At Heartmovements Dru Yoga, Tecoma, classes may start with a body scan and stretching to bring awareness to how your body is feeling in the moment or with an enjoyable warm up to help get your blood and oxygen flowing. This is followed by an energy block release (EBR) designed to release energy blocks within your body. After a short rest we may explore sequences or flowing postures that bring you infinite strength and grace. Or we may indulge ourselves in the silent deep healing of restorative yoga. We may also practice with our body mind somatically to find a deep awareness of any tension to be released. Deep breathing practice leaves you feeling revitalised and centred and we end the class with relaxation or yoga nidra that introduces you to a rich state of contentment and healing silence.
Heartmovements Dru Yoga classes follow a theme and build upon the previous class. The best results are achieved with regular attendance and commitment to a term of Dru Yoga.
Heartmovements Dru Yoga is more than a weekly yoga class.
To help fully support your practice Heartmovements Dru Yoga offers you after class follow up. We offer class flexibility, you can mix and match your classes and attend when it suits you. Talk to us about the best way to do this.The classes are friendly and welcoming and you are invited to attend other events relevant to your practice as they are organised.
Over the summer on days of extreme or catastrophic fire danger or if there is fire activity threatening the Dandenong Ranges or if the temperature is above 40 degrees classes will be cancelled. Fees wil be refunded or can be used in for the next term of classes.

Hello I am currently taking some time off to do my own practice and undertake a Diploma of Yoga Therapy. I will return to teaching later this year. Keep your eye on this page or request an email notification. I will continue to run the one off Sunday classes.

Physicians, athlete’s, corporate leaders, philosophers and spiritual leaders all agree-rest is essential for your health, rest is part of a good yoga practice. When you rest your body regenerates.
Extensive research has shown that relaxation practices like restorative yoga have tangible effects: They lower cortisol (a chemical messenger involved in the stress response), can support subcutaneous fat loss, increase immunity, and promote digestion in the belly brain, and regulate our moods. This class will include practices to look after your lower back and you will go away with tools for both rest and back care. Bring your bolster!

Venue for all classes : Tecoma Uniting Church (except Love YA'lumbar)
Tecoma Uniting Church is a great little place where so much happens, community choirs and local bands practice in the Chapel, the FLAME Garden and Food Forest is here and is coordinated by The Hills Food Frontier. Come up the stairs and through the door we will be in the Chapel which is carpetted and comfy. The address is 1566 Burwood Highway Tecoma. There is lots of parking. If the weather is good we may start in the garden.
What to bring with you to each class:
Wear loose warm, comfy clothing and bring a bottle of water. You will need a yoga mat, blanket/rugs/cushions. IMPORTANT please bring a large bolster, I can no longer provide these and we will be practicing some restorative yoga poses. I am happy to lend you one if you are new to my classes for the first few classes.

- Part of the proceeds of these classes are donated to local and overseas aid and support projects
2 consecutive semi private classes for just 4 people in a beautiful private studio. You may be someone who wants to relieve their back pain or to avoid it. We will stretch, move on the floor and relax. You will go away with some small and easy ways to "Love Ya'lumbar". No not the wine! This will book fast. Address will be supplied upon booking and paying.

Spaces are limited and our classes are often booked out. If you are unable to attend Dru Yoga due to illness, contact Shanti to arrange a make up class or a reduced fee for the following term.
